TEN ACCOMPLISHED YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS
(TAYO) CAPS OFF 5th YEAR OF SEARCH

Now on its 5th year of recognizing the efforts of youth clubs in developing and improving their communities, the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) is gearing for the awarding of this year's winners through a week-long series of activities.

Steered by the National Youth Commission, the Office of Senate Majority Leader Kiko Pangilinan, the Philippine Council of Young Political Leaders and the TAYO Awards Foundation, TAYO seeks out outstanding youth organizations and their projects from 4 areas: Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and NCR. It then chooses 5 clubs per area to represent their region in the Final Judging held in Manila where they present their entries before a panel of judges.

"We have various award-giving bodies for outstanding youths, but most of them only recognize young individuals for their accomplishments. TAYO on the other hand acknowledges youth organizations for working together to recognize the needs of their various communities and respond to them despite meager resources and other limitations," Kiko said.

TAYO has involved over 600 clubs with at least 15 members who are 15 to 30 years old nationwide since 2002. Winners are chosen based on their projects' impact, social mobilization, innovativeness, sustainability and probability of duplication; They are given plaques of commendation and a grant of P50, 000.00.

"The stories that we have gathered from TAYO since its inception 5 years ago are simply inspiring. It reminds us that our young people are not mere spectators, oblivious to the problems and issues confronting our country. They are innovative, they are hard-working, and they have the heart to move this country forward," Kiko added.
