4TH ART FOR CHANGE EXHIBIT TO UNFOLD AT SENATE

The 4th Art for Change Exhibit, sponsored by the Office of Senator Aquilino "Nene" Q. Pimentel, Jr., and Buhay Isang Awit Foundation, Inc., will be held next week.

The exhibit and art sale, dubbed "A Celebration of Art," will be held Dec 3-7 on the second floor of the Senate building in Pasay City.

To be displayed at the exhibit are the winning entries and other portraits in the annual Art for Change, an on-the-spot training competition which seeks to encourage young and budding artists to hone and refine their artistic skills.

The contest also intends to promote artworks as a means of inculcating social consciousness and responsibility among the Filipinos, specially the youth.

Meanwhile, the contest organizers announced the three major winners in the 7th Art for Change contest:

First prize, Lord Daryll P. Decena (10 years old), from P. Guevarra Elementary School in Binondo, Manila; Second prize, Jamia Mei Tolentino (9 years old), from St. Stephen's High School in Sta. Cruz, Manila; and Third prize, Trisha Co-Reyes (9 years old), also from St. Stephen's High School.

This year's Art for Change tilt was held at the Robinson's Place on EDSA corner Pioneer Street, Mandaluyong City.

The coming art exhibit and sale will showcase the artworks of selected finalists and contestants in 2003 and 2004.

The Art for Change contest was also conceived to give gifted and promising artists public exposure, recognition and support.
