ROXAS: ANTI-SUBVERSION LAW
REVIVAL NOT OUR PRIORITY

"I urge the administration to drop this idea. This law was not even tackled in last Tuesday's LEDAC. It is clearly not our priority.

"Reviving the Anti-Subversion Law is to turn the hands of time to an era where might is right, and freedom is defined not by one's ability to think and act freely, but by espousing only the ideas and actions that were most acceptable to the powers-that-be."

"The days of the Cold War have long ended. That we still have the longest running communist insurgency in Asia is a function of poor governance, widespread injustice, and too much corruption."

"Let's focus on health, education, and a better quality of life for all Filipinos. The social cluster within the Cabinet must assert its agenda and role.

"Otherwise, we would have to contend with chilling proposals such as this, which send off wrong signals to the world."
