Aurora RP's next investments hub

A province teeming with abundant natural resources, blessed with beautiful beaches and waterfalls, and enabled by a special economic zone status to boot. These are among the key ingredients that make the province of Aurora the next investors' haven in the country.

Aurora's favorite son, Senator Edgardo Angara boasted of the province's rich natural resources, and the current investments and investor-friendly projects in Aurora.

In an investment summit he sponsored, Senator Angara called Aurora a "laboratory for development," asserting that it could serve as a model for rural development throughout the country.

"Aurora is a perfect place for agricultural-fisheries development because of its fertile soil, forested mountains, vast coastlines and steady rainfall," said Senator Angara.

"These natural resources could be better harnessed for economic uplift through ongoing infrastructure projects, which link Aurora and other provinces in Northern Luzon to the rest of the country. These include the Baler-Casiguran Road, the Pantabangan-Maria Aurora Road, two airports and two seaports." Senator Angara said.

"These infrastructures, coupled with tax incentives and transportation and telecommunications facilities provided under the Aurora Special Economic Zone, will establish Aurora as the gateway to the Pacific -- unlocking the resource-rich and fertile areas of Southern Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya and Aurora," Senator Angara said.

Already, various investments are being set up in Aurora. Because over a half of Aurora's population is involved in agriculture and fisheries enterprises such as a Coconut Fiber Processing Plant, and a Pineapple Processing Facility are being set up, providing gainful employment to Aurorans.

"Aurora is also equipped with facilities that enhance its agricultural capabilities such as an Integrated Rice Processing and Milling Complex, a Coffee Research and Development Center, and a Coconut Seed Farm and Nursery," Senator Angara said.

Aside from its fertile lands, Aurora is also known for its vast sea coast. Here, various programs are in place to exploit Aurora's marine resources while sustaining its productivity and arresting resource depletion. These programs include a Mariculture Park and the Marine Research and Breeding Center.

According to Senator Angara, "Central to these projects is the educational training of the Aurorans. This is the task of the four educational institutions in Aurora, namely the (1) Aurora Science High School; (2) Family Rural Development School; (3) Aurora Technological Institute (ATI) and (4) the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) -- to provide quality education to and equip the Aurorans with the skills necessary in the different trades in Aurora and its nearby localities."

"The wealth of Aurora consists of its people and natural resources - its forests, seas, mountains, coral reefs, and unique flora and fauna. Conservation of this wealth is at the center of Aurora's sustainable development," said Senator Angara.
