SENATE RESUMES SESSION ON MONDAY; 2008 BUDGET, CHEAPER MEDICINES BILL, UP CHARTER, CIVIL AVIATION AMONG PRIORITY MEASURES --- KIKO PANGILINAN

Senate Majority Leader and Independent senator Kiko Pangilinan said among the top priority measures and bills that will be tackled include the proposed 2008 Budget and the Cheaper Medicines Bill.

"We are optimistic that we will be able to pass laws that would directly benefit majority of Filipinos, including those that would help strengthen our small and medium scale enterprises, as well as measures that would positively affect the nation as a whole," Kiko furthers.

As Majority Leader, Kiko is primarily responsible in keeping the Senate's legislative agenda on track.

"Also included in the priority measures pending bicam, aside from the budget and the cheaper medicines bill, the following were approved on third reading, the Human Rights Compensation Act, Civil Aviation - this is to squarely deal with the recent downgrading of the Philippine Aviation by the US Federal Aviation Administration (US FAA) from Category 1 to Category 2, Credit info, the Agricultural Competitiveness Fund, which would greatly help our farmers and the new UP Charter." Kiko adds.

Also scheduled to be tackled on Monday include, the disagreeing provisions of Senate Bill 1964 and HB 2845 regarding the UP Charter and the decriminalizing vagrancy and additional funding for the Office of the Ombudsman.
