KIKO: WE NEED BOLD AND DARING STRATEGIES TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS FACING THE JUDICIARY

Following the concerns of various sectors regarding the creation of the Judicial, Executive, Legislative Advisory and Consultative Council (JELACC), Senate Majority Leader and Independent senator Kiko Pangilinan today pointed out some of the problems facing the judiciary.

"We welcome the debates regarding the legality of JELACC, in the meantime more than 10 judges have been murdered in the last decade and a half, hostage-taking and assassinations have been taking place right in front of court rooms, the delay in the disposition of cases and the punishment of the guilty has emboldened criminals to act with impunity and brazenness." Kiko said.

"The rule of law is under siege. We need bold and daring strategies to solve these problems. We need to take risks and take paths never before taken, to chart our ways through unfamiliar waters if we wish to bring about meaningful and urgently needed reforms in the administration of justice in the country. The old ways have proven to be inutile and must no longer hold sway. We need urgent change in how we govern this nation, how we administer our system of justice and we need it now." Kiko ended.
