KIKO BACKS CALL FOR MORAL FORCE

Independent senator Kiko Pangilinan backs call for moral force that Chief Justice Reynato Puno says would solve the country's problems.

"We support the call for the emergence of a moral force, an alternative force that will usher genuine reforms in our nation.

Puno's calls came amid the threat to unseat him as the Chief Justice of the High Court. The plot against Puno would allegedly be spearheaded by the President's party-mates in KAMPI. Kiko views this politically motivated, "Those who are supposed to be exercising leadership in the country aren't doing so. And in place of genuine leadership, we have incredulous political gimmicky. Instead of courage we have timidity. Instead of risk takers, we have those that play safe on every issue.

The impeachment of Chief Justice Puno is a desperate move of the allies of the Arroyo Administration to put down a good man standing.

"There are only a few principled officials in government and they want to tarnish his character. The impeachment is not going to succeed because you can never put down a good man down. People will rally behind the Chief Justice because he is a bastion of truth, integrity and hope."

We are nearing 2010, and the Presidential Elections can dictate the course our country will take in the immediate future. We need to be vigilant and every Filipino should get involved in the affairs concerning national interest because giving our country to the trapos is like losing all hope for the country," Kiko ended.
