ON PERJURY CASE VS. LOZADA

I welcome the decision of Mike Defensor to drop the perjury charges he filed against Rodolfo "Jun" Lozada.

Jun Lozada and his family have suffered long enough and it is high time that his efforts to fight corruption and abuses of power in high places be met not with groundless and unwarranted persecution but with a firm resolve to be part of the solution.

I laud the former secretary for heeding the call of conscience and enlightenment. As I have said before, the case will only be seen as part of an effort to discredit a person whose only intention is to expose a wrongdoing in government.

Let this serve as a reminder to all those who want to step forward and join the fight against corruption. The country is on your side.
