13-M LEAD FOR NOYNOY SEEN
SWS confirms Noy-Mar remains winning tandem

Liberal Party standard-bearers Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino and Sen. Mar Roxas will win over their nearest rivals if elections were held today, according to a commissioned survey by the Social Weather Station (SWS).

The November 4-8 Social Weather Station (SWS) survey on Filipinos' presidential preferences showed Aquino leading the declared presidential candidates with 47% choosing him while only 20% chose his closest rival, Senator Manuel Villar of the Nacionalista Party.

This is a 27-point lead that, if all the 49 million registered voters will go to and can vote in the elections, will give Aquino a 13-million vote lead over Villar. Aquino and Villar were followed by Sen. Francis Escudero at 27%, and former Pres. Joseph Estrada at 18%.

The survey found then Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro mentioned by 8%, Sen. Loren Legarda by 4%, Sen. Mar Roxas by 3%, and Vice-President Noli de Castro by 3%. Two percent gave an unspecified answer, "Aquino".

At 1 percent each were Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay, Sen. Panfilo Lacson, Brother Eddie Villanueva, and then MMDA Chairperson Bayani Fernando.

Roxas also leads over his Nacionalista rival, Senator Loren Legarda, in the vice-presidential race by five points with 31% of voters choosing him as the candidate they will vote for Vice-President, while Legarda received 26%

The Nov. 4-8 SWS survey was commissioned by Puerto Princesa City Mayor Edward Hagedorn. The 1,200 respondents were asked to choose the person they will vote for President in a list of eight prospective presidential candidates.

In the same survey, Aquino also led over Villar when asked to choose three best leaders to succeed President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, with Aquino being chosen by 59% and Villar being chosen by 45%.

With a margin of error of plus or minus 3%, Aquino's rating was basically unchanged from the last SWS "Choose Three" survey, where he was chosen by 60% of the survey respondents over Villar, who received a beating with a only a 37% rating.

Also in the latest Pulse Asia "Ulat ng Bayan" report, Aquino led over Villar with a 44% rating over the latter's 19% rating, or a difference of 25%. The Pulse Asia report was based on a "choose one" method where respondents were made to pick from a prepared list of names. The 25% difference between Aquino and Villar is equivalent to a 12.250 lead votes.

Aquino's and Roxas' platform for reforms and good governance remain their primary edge over the other presidential and vice presidential tandems for the 2010 national elections.

In the vice-presidential race, Roxas leads over Legarda with 37% compared to the 23% who chose the lady senator. The 14% difference is tantamount to a lead of 6.86 million.

The big leads enjoyed by both Aquino and Roxas in the SWS and Pulse Asia surveys indicate a sweeping victory for Aquino and Roxas in the coming elections.
