LIBERAL PARTY WELCOMES PUBLIC SUPPORT
HIGH TRUST RATING SHOWS PEOPLE'S HUNGER FOR REFORMS

The Liberal Party welcomed today results of a survey conducted by a noted pollster showing that it enjoys the highest trust rating among political parties in the country today.

The December 2009 Manila Standard Today survey, conducted by pollster Pedro "Junie" Laylo Jr., showed the Liberal Party enjoying a big lead over all other political parties with a high +14 net trust rating.

The Liberal Party is fielding Senators Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III and Manuel "Mar" Roxas II as its official presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2010 national elections.

It will also field a complete "People's Reform" senatorial slate, which includes LP chairman and former Senate President Franklin Drilon, Rep. TG Guingona, Rep. Ruffy Biazon, Akbayan! Rep. Riza Hontiveros, former Rep. Neric Acosta, former NEDA chief Ralph Recto, former Sen. Sergio Osmeña, detained Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim, teacher Sonia Roco, , lawyer Alex Lacson, Dr. Martin Bautista and women's right advocate Yasmin Busran Lao.

"Natutuwa kami na napakalaki ng suporta at tiwala ng mga kababayan natin sa mga pagbabagong isinusulong namin ni Noynoy. Makaaasa ang taumbayan na hinding-hindi namin sila pababayaan (I am really grateful for our people's stable support to the reforms that Noynoy, the Liberal Party and I are fighting for. We will never let the people down)," said Roxas, the LP president.," said Roxas, who is president of the Liberal Party.

He also said: "Magwawagi ang kabutihan sa kadiliman. Isapuso natin 'yan at kumilos para makamtan natin ang Pilipinas na matagal na nating pinapangarap. Sa taong ito, maging masigasig tayong piliin ang konsiyensya kaysa ambisyon; prinsipyo kaysa mga papuri; integridad kaysa kapangyarihan; bayan bago sarili (Good will prevail over evil. Let us bear that in mind and move forward towards a Philippines that we have been dreaming of. This year, join us in choosing conscience over ambition; principles over public adulation; integrity over power; country above self)."

The MST survey - which was conducted among a sample of 2,500 registered voters interviewed nationwide from December 6 to 12 with a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points - showed that 36% of the respondents had much trust on the LP, with majority of these coming from Southern Luzon (49%) and the National Capital Region (40%).

Other political parties had single-digit ratings: Partido ng Masang Pilipino with +7%, Nationalist People's Coalition +3%, Nacionalista Party +4%, Lakas-Kampi-CMD -0.1%, Bagumbayan Movement Volunteers for a New Philippines +1%, Bangon Pilipinas 0, and Ang Kapatiran Party -3%.
