BAD GMA RATING DUE TO POOR GOVERNANCE - LOREN

Sen. Loren Legarda said yesterday the "consistently low popularity rating of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is due to her poor governance resulting in widespread hunger, joblessness, environmental degradation and lawlessness."

Loren was reacting to the latest SWS survey which showed that only 28 percent of the people are satisfied with Arroyo's governance, while 51 percent are dissatisfied. The polls were taken in December.

"The Filipino people have suffered too long in the past decade from government incompetence, corruption, wrong policies, misrule of law, repression of civil rights and killing of political activists, fostering a climate of impunity for those who commit crimes against our people," said Loren.

"Our people will no longer tolerate a repetition of such massive misgovernment, neglect and impunity. Their patience is waning. They deserve deliverance and look forward to it peacefully in the next elections."
