Sen. Noynoy Aquino Condemns the killing of Marciliano "Bong" Dizon, Jr.

"This is a dark day for the People's Campaign that marks a dangerous and worrying escalation in political violence.

"Today, we are mourning the death of Marciliano "Bong" Dizon Jr., a volunteer of Noynoy Aquino for President Movement (NAPM) in Pampanga, who was mercilessly gunned down by unidentified persons while attending a wake yesterday. Bong was instrumental in the recruitment activities of NAPM, a tall order in a province known to be the bulwark of this administration.

"Whatever government has done in curbing electoral violence is clearly not enough to ensure that the upcoming elections will be free from it. Government must do more.

"I strongly condemn the senseless murder of Bong Dizon and challenge the authorities to immediately arrest the perpetrators of this crime, bring them to the bar of justice, and forestall more election-related incidents. We will not allow these murderers to sow fear and scare our loyal supporters. Tuloy ang laban!"
