ROXAS: ONLY ONE LIBERAL PARTY
TRUE LP STANDS FOR GENUINE REFORMS

Liberal Party President Senator Mar Roxas today reiterated that there is only one Liberal Party: united under the banner of reform and led by LP standard-bearer Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino.

"Wala nang iba pang Partido Liberal kundi ang Partido Liberal na naninindigan para sa reporma at tunay at makabuluhang pagbabago (There is no other Liberal Party but the Liberal Party that stands for reform and genuine, meaningful change)," Roxas said.

"The so-called 'Atienza Wing,' which does not exist in the first place, has never stood for change and reform. Rather, they have always been on the side of traditional, transactional politics," he stressed.

Roxas recalled that some of its members have been duly expelled from the party after they engaged in acts inimical to the party and contrary to the public's interest.

The Supreme Court in April 17, 2007 ruled in favor of the leadership of Senate President Franklin Drilon as party president, upheld the Daza-Drilon amendments to the LP Constitution, and declared the rump elections of the "Atienza Wing" as null and void.

"The public must remember that this cabal, already expelled from the LP, is the same cabal that has consistently conspired against the party whenever we took a stand against corruption and abuse of power of the Arroyo Administration which they refused to leave," Roxas said.

"Nais lang nilang kaladkarin pababa ang LP ngayong nakikita nating lahat na abot-kamay na ang tagumpay ng taumbayan (They only want to drag the LP down now that they realize that the people's victory is within reach)," he said.
