Aquino: "Tell us the real score so we can help ensure a credible election"
LP presidential bet worries over latest hitches in poll automation project

Liberal Party standard bearer Benigno "Noynoy" S. Aquino yesterday expressed concern over the latest hitches in the poll automation project, and called on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to declare whether it can implement it on nationwide scale. "The thrust of automation is the quick transmission of results. Bigla na lang, ang magde-deliver ng resulta tila ayaw na, nalalabuan sila," he said in a press conference in Davao City.

"Dagdag na naman ang palaisipan kung babalik tayo sa manual and the problems in having manual elections," the current leader in all national presidential surveys said. Aquino was responding to reports that Globe Telecoms and PLDT, fearing physical and technical attacks on their facilities, sought to withdraw their offers to host the main data and backup data centers. The telecommunication companies instead proposed alternative sites to host the Comelec servers. Comelec chair Jose Melo was quoted as saying that if the data centers are not set up soon, the "elections would be disturbed."

"Perhaps it is time the Comelec tell us what the real score is, so we will know how we can help ensure a fair, free, and credible election in May," Aquino said.
