Villar buoyed by SWS survey

DAVAO CITY (March 9) - Nacionalista Party (NP) standard-bearer Manny Villar said the results of the latest Social Weather Station survey showing him in a statistical tie with Liberal Party presidential candidate Benigno Aquino III was proof that voters are now getting a good grasp of his platform of government.

However, Villar stressed that the outcome of the opinion poll is no reason for him and his ticket to relax as the presidential derby is far from over.

Villar said his visit to various places has forged strong unity among members of the NP slate, enabling his team to spread their message of hope to the electorate.

Meeting with reporters here, the NP presidential bet said he and his group were elated by the warm welcome they received during their provincial sorties.

"Mas nagiging mainit ang pagtanggap sa atin saan man kami dumako at mas lalong nagiging buo ang grupo ng Nacionalista kasama ang aking running mate na si Loren Legarda," he said.

Although he is happy with the results of the SWS survey, Villar said he is hoping that he would soon overtake Aquino who now holds a narrow lead of two percentage points over the NP standard-bearer.

Villar explained that his good showing in the surveys could be attributed to his vigorous campaigning in the provinces where he and his team were able to explain their vision for the country.
