The campaign of Senator Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino III lauds PNP Director General Verzosa's commitment to safeguard the elections.

"We congratulate Director General Jesus Verzosa for his commitment to lead The Philippine National Police in upholding the constitution and the rights of our people to have a fair and just elections--even if it means going up against Gloria Arroyo and her newly appointed favorite, Gen. Delfin Bangit, should he be given orders to install her as holdover president after the elections.

"We do not share Verzosa's confidence that Arroyo is beyond using the Armed Forces to tamper with the elections, but we welcome his call to vigilance.

"At this crucial point in our history, the Filipino people need as many allies as possible in the fight against those who would undermine our democratic processes and foster the culture of corruption that has kept our people from prospering."
