Batangas City barangay execs support Gordon

Barangay leaders of Batangas City committed to support the candidacy of Bagumbayan Party presidential bet Sen. Richard J. Gordon, whom they said is a leader who can steer the country towards progress.

During a consultative meeting with Gordon, Fred Solis of Barangay 5 stated his intention to elect Gordon for president despite the fact that Batangas City Mayor Eduardo Dimacuha is affiliated with the administration party.

"Ako ay sa inyo. Sa paliwanag ninyo, ako ay nakumbinsi ninyo. Ngayon hinahamon ko ang aking kapwa punong barangay na mangyari lang ay tumindig kung tayo ay kay Gordon," he said.

In response, at least 50 people seated in the conference room of the Batangas City Country Club, stood up, less than five people remained seated.

Gordon, who was astonished by the development, was barely heard as he expressed his thanks because of the thunderous clapping that resounded in the room.

"Hindi naman po nangangahulugan na kami ay binigyan ninyo ng pera o kami ay may napala sa inyo. Subalit ako ay nakakatiyak, sampu ng aking mga kapwa punong barangay, na tayo po sa inyong magandang plataporma ay uunlad lahat. Maraming salamat," another barangay chairman said.

Gordon, who is running under the Bagumbayan Party with Bayani Fernando as his vice president, was on a campaign sortie in Batangas, stopping over in the towns of Tanauan, Malvar, Lipa and Batangas City where he held dialogues with the people in markets and municipal halls and met with barangay leaders in the evening before heading back to Manila at midnight.

Gordon discussed his plans to develop the province of Batangas by optimizing the utilization of available infrastructures such as the airports, seaports and expressways.

"Gamitin natin ang mga imprastraktura para mailabas ang ating mga produkto. Dapat ilipat natin ang mga industriya sa mga bakanteng lupa sa tabi ng mga highway para mapaunlad ang kanayunan at ma-decongest ang Metro Manila. Magtayo ng mga pabahay para ang mga tao magbibisikleta na lang pagpasok sa trabaho, hikayatin ang mga unibersidad na magbukas doon at lagyan ng PGH (Philippine Government Hospital) bawat region," he said.

"Kaya kong gawin yan. Kaya nating alisin ang lahat ng problema basta kumuha tayo ng mga lider na epektibo. Tiyak mababago lahat kapag umupo si Dick Gordon. Gordon-Bayani, pagbabago, sigurado. Itaga niyo sa bato," the Bagumbayan standard-bearer added.
