ROXAS CONGRATULATES LIBERAL SENATORS DRILON AND RECTO
CONFIDENT THAT LAST THREE SLOTS WILL BE FILLED BY LP

Liberal Party (LP) President Senator Mar Roxas today congratulated the nine senators-elect proclaimed yesterday by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), especially Liberal Senators Franklin Drilon and Ralph Recto.

This, as he said he has nothing but sheer admiration and gratitude for the whole LP senatorial slate-dubbed SLAMAT LORRRD-who worked very, very hard during the campaign and who were steadfast in the party's message: "kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap (there is no poverty if there is no corruption)."

"Frank and Ralph had previously shown their leadership, competence and character in the 13th Congress. Inaasahan natin silang ipagpatuloy ang laban na tapat sa Senado (We expect them to continue our just fight in the Senate)," he stressed.

"To Sonia, Gen. Danny, Neric, Martin, Alex, TG, Yasmin, Serge, Ruffy, Ralph, Risa and Frank: win or lose, you made the whole LP very, very proud. You have demonstrated that we can give ordinary Filipinos a better choice for their leaders," Roxas said.

Roxas meanwhile expressed his confidence that the last three slots will also be filled by Liberals: former Sen. Serge Osmeña, Bukidnon Rep. TG Guingona and Akbayan! Rep. Risa Hontiveros.

"They are all worthy for the Senate. Serge is a veteran legislator with a strong track record. TG and Risa have performed well in the House, and they will definitely give the Senate a whiff of fresh air," he said.

"That's why we in the LP will remain vigilant, as the electoral canvassing process still continues. Hangga't hindi pa tapos ang bilangan, hindi pa tapos ang laban (Until all votes are counted, the fight is not yet over)," he stressed.

Officially declared winners in the senatorial race were Sen. Ramon Bong Revilla Jr., Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago, Drilon, Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile, Sen. Pia Cayetano, Ilocos Rep Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Recto, and Vicente Sotto III. The last three spots are being contested by Osmeña, Guingona, Hontiveros and re-electionist Sen. Manuel Lapid.
