Transcript of SP Enrile's Interview before the Senate session

On the importance of the President's allies to get the Committee on Ways and Means

I've been in the government for quite a long time. I know the needs of any administration. Government's program is the Budget Committee. Your support is the Ways and Means Committee. If those two committees are handled by those who do not have the confidence of the President, his administration will bog down. If his administration will bog down, it is not he who will suffer but the nation and the people. By virtue of being selected as Senate president, I took it upon myself to reserve that to the administration. That has been a practice since the beginning of time. No one could say that we are going to be lackeys of anybody, not even the President, with due respect to him.

On Senator Drilon as head of the Committee on Finance

He has been a Senate President before and he handled the Finance Committee before. He knows what he's going to do. I think you cannot say that Senator Drilon can be an errand boy of anybody.

About Public Service

'Yung Public Service, pag- uusapan pa.

About Ways & Means

Meron na 'yun. I will discuss it with you later.

About Blue Ribbon

Pag- uusapan pa namin 'yun. If we could not agree, I will have to submit it to the body. We are a democratic system. It is always a question of numbers. No one can dictate. It's not yet confirmed if Pangilinan will head the Blue Ribbon Committee.

About the Committee on Energy

Pag- uusapan pa rin namin 'yun.

About other Committees

On those we can agree upon, we will have an election. On those that we cannot agree upon, we will explore the process. This is my fourth term as a Senator. It takes at least two weeks to organize the Senate.

About DBM's claim that there 's no over-spending

I do not know the facts. Kung walang over-spending, that should be shown in the records.
