LAPID LAUDS FPJ DAUGHTER'S APPOINTMENT AS MTRCB CHAIR

Senator Manuel "Lito" M. Lapid expressed elation over the announcement by Malacañang of the recent appointment of Mary Grace Poe-Llamanzares, daughter of the late Fernando Poe, Jr., as chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

According to Senator Lapid, there is no person who can better perform the responsibilities as guardian of Filipino morals in film and television than the daughter of the king of Philippine movies. Citing her impeccable academic credentials and background in the film industry, Senator Lapid asserted that Llamanzares is up to the task and will very much be capable in striking the balance between entertainment and the values that the Filipinos hold dear.

Senator Lapid likewise lamented the compassion that FPJ had towards his colleagues in the movie industry and he expressed confidence that the action king's daughter would also show the same empathy as she performs her mandate as head of the film and television review body.

The Senator also welcomed the appointment of film director Emmanuel Borlaza, a colleague in the industry who was appointed as vice chairman of the MTRCB along with Llamanzares.

"May mga bago na kaming kasama sa gobyerno na tutulong sa pagbangon ng industriya," Lapid said as he implores the assistance of Llamanzares and Borlaza in efforts to uplift the state of the now ailing local film industry.
