STATEMENT OF SENATOR FERDINAND "BONGBONG" MARCOS, JR ON JAPAN 8.9 MAGNITUDE QUAKE

I am in constant contact with Governor Imee Marcos and am standing by if there is a need for assistance from the National Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC). The provincial government of Ilocos Norte is monitoring the tsunami threat and is consolidating assets and relief goods for immediate deployment in case there will be a tsunami. There is also a threat of earthquake since we are on the same fault line as Japan. The same rescue and relief responses will be in place should earthquake strike.
