Press statements of Sen. Chiz Escudero

1) "Out of 36 tax evasion raps filed at the DOJ, no indictments have yet been made" Tama na ang Japorm... It's time to perform... The only way that tax evaders will see that government is serious about this issue is when it sees that cases are actually being filed in court. Why is it taking so long? I hope that the DOJ will give these cases priority in order to send out a clear message to tax evaders that PNoy and his administration is dead serious about running after tax cheats.

2) Two of the Agusan del Sur hostage-takers were part of the Dec. 2009 hostage crisis but were spared of charges because they were minors at that time." Let's renew our calls to revisit, amend or suspend some of the provisions of the Juvenile Justice law.

3) Phivolcs has launched a massive grassroots campaign that will inform the public about the basic nature of earthquakes" I hope this is not a "one shot deal" and will be recurring and long term. Perhaps PHIVOLCS can also partner with DepED, CHED, NDRRMC and DILG and make this program permanent and consistent

4) "OFWs oppose increase in SSS contribution" SSS should justify and explain increase in contribution to its members and what additional benefits if any will they get given this increase.

5) Phil Army now has its first ever female general in the person of Brig Gen. Ramona Go, who has been promoted by P-Noy" As chair of national defense... I congratulate B. Gen Go and commend PNoy as well for this appointment. I hope that we will have more female generals in the not so distant future. I also hope that this will serve as an inspiration to other female members of the AFP to perform well because who knows we may yet have a female Chief of Staff.

6) "Cebu Pacific calls for 'reciprocal open skies'" I support the call of Cebu Pac in order to give our local airlines the same benefit and privilege that will be accorded to foreign airlines here. We should support and help Philippine businesses while developing access to cheaper air transportation.
