Villar swears in Trillanes as newest Nacionalista Party member

Sen. Manny Villar, Nacionalista Party (NP) President, today welcomed Sen. Antonio "Sonny" Trillanes IV to the NP family.

In simple ceremonies held at Makati Shangri-La, Trillanes was sworn in as the newest NP member.

Villar said Trillanes is an asset to the party, which is now preparing for the 2013 elections.

The oath-taking was witnessed by former Congw. Cynthia Villar, Sens. Alan Peter Cayetano, Pia Cayetano, Ferdinand "Bong-bong" Marcos, Cavite Rep. Boying Remulla, Las Pinas Rep. Mark Villar and Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano.

Running on an anti-corruption advocacy while in detention, Trillanes won the mandate of more than 11 million Filipinos during the 2007 senatorial elections.

The 105-year-old NP is the country's oldest political party.
