TRANSCRIPT OF INTERVIEW
Cayetano: Cybercrime issue an opportunity to get people
more involved in policymaking

ASC: I think that the government should act very quickly. We should be like the Internet - our citizens like it because it's so fast.

But aside from that, I think rather than fighting it, we should see it as a good thing. Government should see the activism of our netizens as a good thing and we should even promote it. If you look at the statistics, only 1/3 of our people really have access to the Internet and to computers. The same is true with phones. One of the best learning devices now is the Smartphone.

So for those who are defending this law, if you can't beat them, meaning the netizens, join them.

So, let us stop with the view that it's the government against the people and instead push for ensuring that we should be a government for the people. Not only should this law be amended as soon as possible, we have to bring in more creativity in coming up with programs that will really promote the use of this technology.
