Legarda Thanks Filipinos for Continuous Support

Senator Loren Legarda today thanked the Filipino people for consistently making her number one in the surveys on preferred senatoriables for the 2013 elections.

The results of the latest Pulse Asia Survey on senatorial preferences conducted from February 24-28, 2013 showed Legarda topping the list of senatorial candidates that Filipinos would vote for in the 2013 elections.

Legarda got 56.7%, followed by Sen. Francis Escudero (54.9%), Sen. Alan Cayetano (52.8%), Cynthia Villar (44%), Cong. JV Ejercito (43.8%), Bam Aquino (43.2%), Nancy Binay (42.5%), Grace Poe (42.1%), Sen. Koko Pimentel (40.1%), Sen. Gringo Honasan (37.9%), Cong. Jack Enrile (36.6%), and Sen. Antonio Trillanes (36.1%).

"As always, I am grateful to God who always guides me in all the work that I do. I am thankful to the Filipino people because they appreciate my hard work and the advocacies that I push for, which are really all for the benefit of the people," said Legarda.

"My job is to serve the people through legislation and through my advocacy programs, which are now focused on providing healthcare coverage and better education opportunities for the poor, ensuring greater support for our senior citizens, and making our communities disaster-resilient," the Senator stressed.

Among Legarda's priorities are: finishing the Universal Healthcare Bill to provide free and quality healthcare coverage to the 25 million poorest Filipinos; the expansion of scholarship programs for indigent but deserving college students so that every household-beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) will have at least one college graduate; looking after the welfare of elderly Filipinos by ensuring the full implementation of the Expanded Senior Citizens Act, which allows them access to the full twenty percent discount on medicines, food, services and other purchases; and bringing her information and education campaign on disaster risk reduction to the community level to prepare all barangays against disasters.
