RESPECT FOR INC STILL HIGH EVEN WITHOUT ENDORSEMENT - CHIZ

Senator Chiz Escudero said his respect for the influential Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) remains even without its endorsement.

Escudero clarified reports that quoted him as saying that the INC's non-endorsement would have no effect on his re-election bid.

"I never said the INC's non-endorsement would have no effect. On the contrary, I said (the non-endorsement) will always have an effect because politics is addition," the re-electionist senator said.

"Sinumang grupo na nag-eendorso sa iyo, syempre positibo iyon. sinumang grupo ang hindi, syempre may epekto pa rin palagi iyon (An endorsement from any group will always be positive, and any non-endorsement will also have an effect)," Escudero explained.

"Pero ginagalang namin anumang desisyon ng mga grupo kaugnay ng sinusuportahan, kinakampanya at iboboto nila (But we respect whatever decision these groups make with regards to support and endorsements," he added.

Escudero said he remains grateful for whatever support he has received for his re-election bid even as he stressed that he had no right to be disappointed for whatever support he had failed to get.

"Wala ako sa lugar ma-dissapoint. Anumang tulong pasasalamatan namin at wala kami sa lugar na magdemand ng anumang tulong kaugnay sa mga pasya na ibinababa ninuman (It is not for me to be disappointed, nor is it for me to demand any support or endorsement from anyone)," he said.
