EQUIP POLICE WITH MEANS SOLVE CRIMES -- PIMENTEL

Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III, PDP Laban President, emphasized the importance of providing our police forces with greater ability to solve bombings and other crimes that have the capability of killing many innocent victims.

This was the statement of Senator Pimentel following the spate of violent bombings that rocked Mindanao particularly in Cagayan de Oro and Cotabato cities.

"The goal is to give the Philippine National Police the wherewithal, the capacity and resources to solve these bombing incidents," Pimentel stressed.

What is important is that the perpetrators of these deadly crimes are arrested and made to face the bar of justice.

The ability to apprehend criminals takes precedence over attempts to increase the penalties of certain crimes, Pimentel added.

Even if Congress increases the penalties of violent crimes causing multiple deaths, if the criminals are not arrested, the stiffer penalties will not be a deterrent against crime, Pimentel explained.
