Nancy appeals to release hostages in Zamboanga City attack
Lady solon asks for religious leaders' help in diffusing tension

Senator Nancy Binay appealed to the leadership of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) for the "immediate and unconditional release" of the hostages they took in Zamboanga City, where the group launched a dawn attack and allegedly took over seven barangays in the city.

"We appeal to MNLF Chairman Nur Misuari and Haber Malik for the immediate and unconditional release of the reported 30 hostages, especially the children, women and the elderly," Sen. Binay said.

The lady senator also reminded the hostage takers that "hostage-taking is an illegal act under the International Convention against the Taking of Hostages." "It is not too late for the hostage-takers to sit down and talk to the government to seek redress for their grievances," Sen. Binay added. The lady senator also asked for the assistance of the religious leaders in the area to help diffuse the tension in the city.
