Statement of Senator Nancy Binay on the International Day
of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression

We celebrate today the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, a worldwide remembrance of children who were victims of physical, mental and emotional abuse. We also honor the men and women, as well as organizations, that ensure that the rights of children are respected and upheld.

I have filed several bills that aim to protect children, as well as resolutions that seek to find ways how to strengthen children's rights and welfare.

However, much has to be done. I enjoin all stakeholders - from the family to the private and public sectors - to join hand in hand to make sure that a caring and nurturing environment for Filipino children is created and maintained.

Dr. Jose Rizal once said that the children are the hope of the fatherland. It is up to us adults to ensure that all Filipino children are free from harm and abuse and the promise of the young are realized for the betterment of the Filipino nation.
