Gilas Pilipinas showed the globe that it can compete with the best and brightest players and teams of the world. This is a historic moment for the country as we are back in the world stage after 36 years.

 For the last few days, the team has united the whole country, with every Filipino rooting for every play, every shot, every assist, and every rebound that would lead us to victory.

I share with the rest of the Filipino nation the joy and happiness that we have held our own against tough competition, and we hold our heads up high with our showing.

Gilas Pilipinas have shown that if we put our hearts and minds into whatever we do, despite the adversities we face, we can and will succeed.

I hope that through Gilas Pilipinas and other sports, every Filipino will be continuously inspired to achieve their dreams.
