International award-giving body recognizes efforts
of Villar on poverty alleviation

The Gusi Peace Prize has selected Senator Cynthia A. Villar as among this year's recipient of the Gusi Peace Prize. The award recognizes the efforts of leaders around the world for their work towards the attainment of peace and respect for human life and dignity.

Senator Villar will be recognized for her efforts to alleviate poverty and uplift the lives of Filipinos through the provision of skills training and livelihood programs. Villar joins this year's awardees from around the world who will be honored as part of the "Gusi Peace Prize International Friendship Day" on November 26, 2014.

This year's laureates include:

1. Dr. Hans Koechler, from Austria, President International Progress Organization

2. Dr. Atiur Rahman, from Bangladesh, Governor Central Bank of Bangladesh

3. Dr. Manson Fok, from China, Executive Director of the Henry Fok Foundation; Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Macau

4. Professor Virima Mudogo, from Congo, Chemical Scientist and Professor at the University of Kinshasa

5. Professor Gerhard Bringmann, from Germany, Professor and Head of the Institute of Organic Chemistry, University of Wurzburg

6. Dr. Achyuta Samanta, of India, Founder: Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KILT)

7. Hon. Parviz Pargari of Iran, Founder of Pargari Design, Inc. 8. Dr. Luigi Pellegrini, Italy, Collaborator, "Pharmaceutical Technique and Legislation"

9. Professor Yoshinory Asakawa of Japan. President, Phytochemical Society of Asia

The Gusi Peace Prize is Asia's foremost awarding body and among the leading in the world today. It recognizes the most brilliant examples of those working toward the attainment of peace and respect for human life and dignity, and it brings out the best of human achievements, ideals and values.

Based in the Philippines, the Gusi Peace Prize Foundation aims to recognize individuals or groups worldwide who have contributed towards the attainment of peace and respect for human life and dignity.
