Pimentel cites Filipino-Muslim's religious devotion,
discipline, diligence as nation observes Ramadan

Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel lll, expressing his solidarity with Filipino-Muslims, today asked the entire nation to join them in the search for lasting peace during the month of Ramadan.

Pimentel, who hails from Cagayan de Oro City, said everybody should support government's efforts to end the conflict in Mindanao as local Muslims observe Ramadan in fasting and abstinence.

He said this period of deep reflection is also an opportune time for the people, including Congress, to take a closer look at the urgency and importance of the proposed Bangsamoro autonomous region which has been ruined by war and hobbled by poverty for years on end.

Pimentel said the nation should not squander any opportunity to bring peace and development to our people.

He said once Congress convenes next month, the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) would be top priority.

Pimentel said the fasting and prayers for 30 days reflect the Muslim's world's deep religious devotion, discipline and diligence which are needed by the nation to achieve lasting peace and prosperity.

Pimentel said the Ramadan, one of the five pillars of the Islam, is a fitting occasion for the nation to continue supporting the hopes and aspirations of our Filipino-Muslim brethren.
