Sen. Marcos demands full disclosure and accounting
of relief and rehab efforts on Yolanda

Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong Marcos today demanded a full accounting and disclosure of the status of the government's relief and rehabilitation program for the areas devastated by typhoon Yolanda.

Earlier, Marcos noted that two years since the typhoon struck the Visayas the government only managed to complete around 10 percent of its promised permanent housing units for Yolanda survivors amid reports of millions of pesos in unused disaster funds.

Marcos said that unless the concerned government agencies make a voluntary report of what they have done so far for Yolanda victims a full-blown Senate inquiry may be necessary.

"What did we receive? What have we done with it? How far on the master plan for rehabilitation are we? Saan tayo nagkukulang? What do we need to do para i-accelerate ang proseso?" said Marcos.

Apart from the issue of permanent shelters for Yolanda survivors Marcos said it's equally important to know how the government can help Yolanda survivors get back to their own feet again.

"Iyung sa livelihood. What have we instituted? What have we begun? And how long is it going to take? When will this happen? How much will it cost? Where are we getting the money? Where is the money? All of those things need to be clarified because clearly the process is far too slow," he said.

Unless the government makes a full disclosure of what has been done, and what it failed to do, if would be difficult to speed up the pace of assistance to the victims of typhoon Yolanda.
