Ejercito Supports Establishment of MIMAROPA Region

Senator JV Ejercito today vouched support for the establishment of the MIMAROPA region to boost its economic standing, promote tourism, and to propel its agriculture.

Ejercito, who chairs the Senate Economic Affairs Committee, convened today to discuss House Bill 5511 which will give the MIMAROPA region a distinct regional status from its present position as part of Region IV.

The senator took in the observation of Congresswoman Josephine Sato that the region needs to be recognized distinctly from CALABARZON, which is an industrial region. Ejercito said that MIMAROPA should be given the chance to maximize its potential and resources as an agricultural and tourism region.

"I fully support the passage of this bill for this will ensure regional development and full attention from the national government agencies. This will fill the operations gap that Region IV-B is experiencing because of the two regions' current set-up," Ejercito said.
