BONGBONG MARCOS TAKES LEAD IN NEW PULSE ASIA SURVEY

Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. has taken the lead in the latest Pulse Asia survey.

The ABS-CBN commissioned survey, taken from March 8 to 13, 2016 nationwide on 4,000 respondents, showed Marcos overtaking Senator Francis Escudero at 25 percent. Escudero dropped 1 point to 24 percent.

Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo followed them at 20 percent. Senator Alan Peter Cayetano is at 13 percent followed by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV at 6 percent and Senator Gringo Honasan at 5 percent.

Overall, Robredo and Escudero both dropped a point each while Marcos gained three compared to the March 1-6, 2016 Pulse Asia survey also commissioned by ABS-CBN. The new survey had a bigger sample as there were only 2,600 respondents in the earlier survey.

In the latest survey, Pulse Asia asked the respondents "If the coming 2016 election were held today, whom would you vote for as Vice President of the Philippines?". The respondents, who were registered voters with biometrics, were then shown a sample ballot and list of candidates as of February 15, 2016.

Marcos retained his lead in the National Capital Region at 35 percent and the balance of Luzon at 29 percent. Marcos also took Class ABC at 31 percent and Class D at 27 percent.

In a statement, Marcos said the latest survey inspires him to work even harder in the campaign.

"We are happy that our message of unity resonates and is being accepted by the people. I think we are moving in the right direction. We remain focused on the campaign and we will continue to work harder to get our message across to more people," he said.
