GUINGONA: YOUTH LEADERSHIP SAILS ON LIKE A VINTA

REELECTIONIST Senator Teofisto "TG" Guingona III on April 9 reminded the young professionals of Bulacan on their role in nation-building by espousing the characteristics of Mindanao's traditional boat, the vinta.

"May tatlong mahalagang katangian ang isang vinta. Una, ito ay mabilis. Pangalawa, ito ay tahimik. Pangatlo, ito ay makulay. . . Sa palagay ko, Jayson, ang tatlong 'yun din ang katangian ng iyong leadership: silent, fast and colorful," Guingona said as he addressed the newly inducted president of the Rotary Club of Malolos Liping Hiyas.

More than an accolade to the leadership of Liping Hiyas President Israel Jayson Vinta, Guingona's message rang true to the mission and vision of Bulacan's young blood who are affecting development and transformation of several communities by being exemplary in their respective fields.

According to Guingona, a quiet yet fast leadership is the kind of direction that public servants, young and seasoned alike, must emulate if public interest is truly the interest in assuming public office.

"Marami pa ang dapat tuparin. Sabi nga, umpisa pa lang. . . Ang hangad ko, makarating kayo sa inyong gustong puntahan na tulad ng isang vinta. Tahimik pero mabilis," Guingona stated.

Liping Hiyas is the first Rotary Club for young professionals under the Rotary International District 3770 and is composed of young entrepreneurs, specialists, and government workers from the different municipalities and cities of Bulacan. It was founded with aim of serving the community and fellow youth.

Meanwhile, the people of Guiguinto, Bulacan earlier welcomed the Mindanaoan senator with full enthusiasm as the crowd filling the municipal gym pledged to support his candidacy. Almost a thousand new Friends of TG cheered on their senatorial bet and took oath to advocate for Guingona's bid for the 17th Congress.
