DON'T COUNT MIRIAM OUT - BONGBONG MARCOS
Tandem together at UP Visayas tomorrow

Don't count Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago out of the presidential race.

This was the statement made today by her vice presidential candidate, Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. saying she and the lady Senator might just pull a surprise in the May 9 elections.

"Don't count her out. She is still very much in the running," Marcos said when asked about the low ratings of the lady senator in the surveys.

Santiago has consistently lagged behind in fifth place in the surveys.

But Marcos said the surveys do not reflect the complete picture because they do not cut across all sectors of society. "I don't think the surveys reflect the complete picture because I don't think the youth sector where Senator Miriam is strong is being covered much," he said.

He noted the many university mock polls where he and Santiago had been consistently topping. "Don't say she is out of the running because she and I might just pull a surprise come election day," he said.

Marcos said he and Santiago are set to hold a campus tour tomorrow at the University of the Philippines Visayas in Jaro, Iloilo.

"We are set to speak before UP students in Iloilo tomorrow and we are scheduled to do some campus engagements in the coming days," he stressed.

The UP Iloilo campus tour is the first sortie of the Santiago-Marcos tandem after several weeks.

The tandem was last seen together during the launching of the Youth for Miriam Movement at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City on February 15.

Santiago also did not attend the second debate in Cebu City as she was undergoing clinical trial for a new anti-cancer drug.

Marcos conceded that given the health condition of Santiago, they really did not plan to campaign together at all times. He also said it would also be practical for them to campaign separately to cover more areas.
