PUBLIC TRANSPORT GROUPS UNITE TO SUPPORT BONGBONG MARCOS

Public transportation groups today found a common ground in their fight for an efficient transportation system in the country - endorse the candidacy of vice presidential candidate Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr.

In the National Public Transport Summit in held in Quezon City, all transport groups in attendance coming from various parts of the country, unanimously expressed their support to back the vice presidential bid of Marcos.

Transport groups Pasang Masda, Liga ng Transport Operators ng Pilipinas (LTOP), Philippine Bus Operators of Philippines (PBOA), Taxi Nationwide, UV Express, Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (FEJODAP), Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association of Metro Manila (TODA Metro Manila) said they are throwing their support behind Marcos because they believe that his vision for the country is what will make positive changes in the public transport system in the country.

"Ang isang Marcos lamang ang may vision sa ating bansa at isang Marcos lamang ang maraming nagawa na sa atin na hanggang ngayon ay pinakikinabangan natin kaya dapat lang na isang Marcos din ang magpapatuloy tungo sa tunay na kaunlaran ng bansa. Ibalik natin ang serbisyong Marcos," Orlando Marquez, President of LTOP declared to a roaring applause.

Marquez said collectively, all transport groups that pledged their support for Marcos have at least three million members.

Amidst a rousing welcome, those in attendance vowed not only to support Marcos but to actively campaign for him not only among their members but in the entire country.

"Magtulung-tulong tayo sa pagluklok kay Bongbong Marcos bilang bise presidente at hindi lamang sa ating mga sarili at sa ating mga miyembro kundi sa ating mga pamilya, kaibigan, kapitbahay, komunidad pati na rin sa buong bansa," Bong Suntay, National President of Taxi Nationwide said.

Roberto Martin, President of Pasang Masda, Zenaida Maranan, Fejodap National President, Alex Yague, National President of PBOA, Lino Marable, National President of UV Express and Roberto Galisem, President of TODA Metro Manila all agreed.

Marcos, for his part, thanked the transport group for their endorsement saying that he has always been pushing for a more efficient transport system through infrastructure development. He said the sorry state of public transportation and the worsening traffic situation are all indications that no serious effort was carried in the transport sector especially in the past six years.

He added that if he wins the vice presidency, he will actively pursue infrastructure development to develop the roads and construct the bypass roads that have long been in the pipeline but was not carried out.

"Sa palagay ko parang natulog ang gobyerno sa public transport ng anim na taon," Marcos quipped.

He said there is need to rationalize the system in the transport system to provide common rules for public transport workers.

He further urged the transportation to stay united in their cause to push for reforms in the transport sector saying it is only when they are speaking in one voice that they can get things done.

"Ipagpatuloy ninyo ang inyong pagkakaisa at nagpapasalamat ako na ako ang napili ninyo sa inyong pagkakaisa dito sa eleksyon at makakaasa kayo ng agarang tulong sa inyong mga hinaing katulad ng patuloy kong pagtulong sa inyong sektor sa mga nakaraang panahon," Marcos said.
