POE TO VOTERS: DEMAND MORE FROM YOUR LEADERS

If they want a better future for the country, independent presidential candidate Sen. Grace Poe said Filipinos should demand more from their leaders and seek those that will serve as good examples for their children.

In a political rally in Tarlac early Monday, Poe said parents should not let candidates take away the values that they instilled in their children.

The senator stressed that voters should not tolerate candidates who advocate a culture of violence and disrespect for the rule of law.

The senator, who vowed to address crime by addressing poverty, said toughness should not mean an utter disregard of the due process or the rule of law.

Historically, she said, it is often the poor people, who cannot even afford a lawyer, that end up victims of such a violent rule.

Competence, integrity and credibility are just some of the qualities that people should require from a leader, Poe said.

Poe cautioned Filipinos against voting for a candidate who threatens basic freedoms and the pillars of democracy.

"Importante po ang kalayaan natin. Importante po na ang lider natin ay accountable sa atin o sumasagot at sinasabi sa atin kung ano ang katotohanan," she said.

Poe brought her campaign for "Gobyernong may Puso" to Tarlac and Nueva Ecija Monday. In Tarlac, she received the endorsement of the province's 16 of 18 mayors.
