NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE, POE TELLS GRADUATES

Sen. Grace Poe stressed that no challenge can hinder a student from pursuing his or her dream.

Daisy (not her real name), who overcame the challenges of having Parkinson's disease, marched on Friday, April 28, at the graduation ceremonies of her batch at the Lyceum of the Philippines (LPU) campus in General Trias, Cavite, reminding others about the importance of commitment and determination in achieving one's goals.

"Inspirasyon siya para sa ating lahat na sa kabila ng kanyang napakahirap na dinadala ay nagawa pa ring magpursige at makatapos ng kolehiyo. Kasama ang kanyang ina, pinatunayan nilang hindi kayang gapiin ng anumang balakid ang determinasyong magtagumpay sa buhay," said Poe, the commencement speaker.

It was not easy for Daisy, who now holds a degree i?n Human Resource Development Management, as she had to be accompanied by her mother to school every day until her graduation day.

Daisy, 27, at first had to quit when she was in high school due to her condition, but she returned to tell the world that she is bigger than her challenges.

Before delivering her commencement address, Poe, accompanied by LPU President Roberto Laurel, met Daisy and her mother and congratulated them for their achievement. The senator gave Daisy a hope necklace, saying she is an inspiration to many others who face challenges in life.

In her speech, Poe extolled the character of Daisy and the perseverance of her mother, saying they are worth looking up to.

The senator also advised new graduates to have the right attitude which is as important as attaining a degree.

?"Hindi lamang ang kaalaman ang tinitingnan, kundi maging ang pag-uugali," Poe emphasized.

Poe has pushed for more budgetary support for healthcare in order to provide every Filipino adequate medical access and treatment.

April is International Parkinson's Awareness Month.
