Statement of Senator Joel Villanueva on the signing of Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act

We thank the President for signing into law the bill granting free tuition in state universities and colleges and technical-vocational institutions.

Tunay po na magiging abot-kamay na sa lahat lalo na sa mahihirap ang makapag-aral sa kolehiyo at makatanggap ng skills training na magbibigay-daan sa magagandang trabaho.

This is an important milestone in ensuring that we provide sufficient support developing our human capital. Our people are our greatest asset that's why the biggest investment of the government should go to them.

We should all welcome this development. We all want to take all available steps to ensure education for everyone. At the same time, we should listen to those who raised concerns about this measure and ensure that these are addressed.
