Villanueva launches Tulong Trabaho at Kabuhayan Project in Tarlac

Senator Joel Villanueva, chairperson of the Senate committee on labor, employment, and human resources development, turned over training scholarships and livelihood assistance dubbed as "Tulong Trabaho at Kabuhayan Project" for the indigenous people of Tarlac on the eve of the country's observance of Labor Day.

Villanueva was joined by government agencies such as the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the local government of Capas, Tarlac.

"We awarded 500 scholarships for dressmaking, carpentry, welding, masonry, and agricultural courses from TESDA, and P1.5-million worth of DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) and Tulong Pangkabuhayan para sa Disadvantaged (TUPAD) workers assistance for our Aeta community," Villanueva said.

The senator further shared that the DOST also provided Starbooks digital science library to O'Donell National High School, Aquaponics urban agriculture technology to Sta. Juliana High School, integrated solar power generator and water irrigation pump to Sitio Ye Young of Brgy. Sta. Juiliana, and complimentary food for 60-day feeding program for children 6-36months to Sta. Juliana Barangay Health Center.

Emphasizing that the program is intended to ensure job and livelihood opportunities for IPs by arming them with the right set of skills needed in the province, Villanueva stressed that job creation and livelihood assistance programs should be top most priority of the government.

Villanueva is a consistent advocate of tech-voc as essential assistance for employment.

"Our government and private companies are investing more than P50-billion pesos for the construction of the New Clark City and we also have a number of infrastructure projects under the Build, Build, Build program including the construction of the 1,500-hectare industrial park in Clark and the expansion of the Clark International Airport. These projects will help provide construction jobs for our IPs," Villanueva said.

"Sa atin pong pagtutulong-tulong ay hindi po imposibleng maiangat natin ang pamumuhay ng ating mga kababayan sa pagbibigay tulong trabaho at kabuhayan," the senator said.

"This jobs and livelihood project will open up a door of opportunities for our IPs by providing them the right set of skills needed here in the province," Villanueva stressed.
