Statement of Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan on graft blaming at GOCC coco firm CIIF

The Coconut Industry Investment Fund-Oil Mills Group (CIIF-OMG) is one of the government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs) covered by the coco levy bill still pending in Congress 47 years after Marcos the dictator and his cronies hoodwinked our coconut farmers in the billion-peso scam.

A conglomerate established in the 1970s and that runs three oil mills in Iligan, Albay, and Batangas, CIIF-OMG is still not in the control and management of coconut farmers, whose blood, sweat, and tears have started and grown it.

We call for the resolution of this internal conflict arising from graft-blaming among its officials, as any wastage borne of corruption by its officers will disadvantage our coconut farmers.

We also join the coconut farmers in their call for the passage of the law that would give them what from the beginning is rightfully theirs.
