Press Release September 7, 2018 Let's de-escalate tension from amnesty revocation: Pangilinan Response to media query on SP Sotto's reaction to call for supporters' presence in Senate With respect, our desire for people to come to the Senate and show support for Senator Trillanes was in response to reports gathered from sources both in the AFP and the media that an illegal arrest was to be effected. The Senate in caucus agreed that any arrest made within the Senate premises would be an assault on the Senate as an institution and calling for support to my mind was not an abuse of any consideration but rather supportive of ensuring that any arrest within the Senate premises is avoided. We agree with the Senate President that we should henceforth work toward de-escalating tensions brought about by the controversial proclamation of amnesty revocation. |
