On the suspension of next year's scheduled increase in fuel excise tax and an appeal for the gov't to ensure affordable Noche Buena food products

IT'S a sigh of relief for our people if next year's scheduled increase in excise tax on fuel will not be implemented.

I have been relentlessly appealing for this and the people are also appealing for this and it's really a welcome development what Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III had said, according to the news, that the suspension of the scheduled increase would still push through even if the trigger price of $80 per barrel (of Dubai crude) will not be met.

And speaking of prices, I would like to appeal to the government to ensure that prices of Noche Buena food products will not increase so that the 13th month pay and other Christmas incentives of our workers will be sufficient for a simple and humble Noche Buena celebration.
