Senator JV Ejercito on the approval funds for Marawi Rehab

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Urban Planning, Housing and Resettlement, I congratulate the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Investment Coordination Committee-Cabinet Committee (ICC-CabCom) for the approval of new road and drainage projects for the rehabilitation of Marawi City which is part of the P6.52-billion Rehabilitation and Development Plan (RDP) for a Greater Marawi-Stage 2 project expected to be completed by 2022 and the P3.45 billion Bangon Marawi Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Recovery Program.

In behalf of the people of Marawi, I would like to thank the NEDA-ICCCabCom for this welcome development that would address the present issues that our people in the area are dealing with. I am appealing to the Task Force Bangon Marawi leadership headed by Chairperson Eduardo del Rosario and the National Housing Authority to fast track the physical development and reconstruction work in Marawi City starting with the return of the displaced residents.

Let us continue our efforts to avoid a repeat of what happened in the housing projects for the victims of typhoons Yolanda and Sendong. The government should undertake the building of basic infrastructure, basic utilities and government facilities in the area. We should extend assistance to Marawi residents by providing them with the necessary materials and equipment to clear the debris so that they could start to build their own homes the soonest time possible.

Again, Congratulations and thank you to the NEDA-ICCCabCom! Let us all work together to rebuild Marawi... Bangon Marawi!
