Koko calls on PNP to solve the murder of Atty. Chong's Aide, says it is long overdue

Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III, PDP LABAN President, laments the seemingly slow investigation of Santillan's murder and calls on the PNP to solve this crime immediately so that the murderers will be identified and swiftly brought to the bar of justice. "It's about time that the PNP steps up its capability to investigate and solve crimes. Government must send the clear and strong message that crime does not pay, and wrongdoers will be speedily apprehended and prosecuted" said Pimentel.

Richard Red Santillan was the bodyguard and aide of election lawyer and former Biliran representative, Atty. Glen Chong. He was killed in an alleged shootout on December 10, 2018. The Public Attorney's Office (PAO) conducted a forensic examination on Santillan's body and found 11 gunshot and multiple puncture wounds in different parts of Santillan's body, prompting the PAO to conclude that Santillan was tortured and did not die in a legitimate shootout.

"It is tragic enough for any family to lose a member in such a violent way, but for the crime to go unpunished is the bigger tragedy and injustice. I call on the PNP to double time and solve Santillan's murder. Long overdue na ito," said Pimentel, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Electoral Reforms and People's Participation.
