Statement of Senator Joel Villanueva on the signing of the implementing rules and regulations of Republic Act No. 11261 or the First-Time Jobseekers Act

Nagagalak po tayo at napirmahan na kanina ang implementing rules and regulations ng Republic Act No. 11261 o ang First-Time Jobseekers Assistance Act.

Thousands of fresh graduates this year as well as those who are looking to work for the first time stand to benefit from the law that we pushed in the previous Congress.

We championed this measure because we recognize the plight of our first-time jobseekers who shared with us how financially taxing it is for their parents to shell out hundreds of pesos just to get government documents which are required by employers. Hindi pa nga sila nakakatungtong sa opisina at nakakasahod, abonado na kaagad.

Through this law, we sought to ease the burden of first-time jobseekers as they join the labor force and become productive members of society.
