Sen. Pimentel: '100 wheelchairs to benefit senior citizens, PWDs'

In line with his advocacy for the rights of senior citizens and PWDs, Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III received one hundred (100) wheelchairs from a group of Chinese businessmen today at the Senate of the Philippines.

The group, namely: Mr. Lucio Ang, Mr. Nelson Guevarra, Mr. Sherwin Tan and Mrs. Carla Tan, Mr. Henry Callano, Mr. Kim Tan, Brgy. Chairman Jefferson Lau, and MMDA Col. Edison Bong Nebrija, endeavors to help senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) by providing them wheelchairs that can lessen their everyday burden.

"I thank the generous group headed by Mr. Ang. This partnership is built on our common goals. This will assure our senior citizens and PWDs of a more comfortable life," said Pimentel.

Pimentel, known for his legislative priorities for the elderly and PWDs, filed this 18th Congress Senate Bill No. 100 entitled "National Center for Geriatric Health and Research Institute Act".

"Coincidentally, I filed Senate Bill No. 100 and now we have 100 wheelchairs. This is a good start for our priority bills," he added.

One of the beneficiaries to receive some of the wheelchairs is Jose Reyes Memorial Hospital where National Center for Geriatric Health is located.
