ON 30TH YEAR OF FALL OF BERLIN WALL
Let's never forget atrocities of tyranny, people's triumph for freedom: Pangilinan

The Fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 was part of a wave of democracy at the turn of the century that I believed we in the Philippines, together with the struggles for freedom of South Africa, Poland, and South Korea, inspired with our own 1986 EDSA People Power Revolt.

On this occasion, let us be Berliners and let us never forget the atrocities of tyranny and authoritarianism, and the eventual people's triumph for freedom. Let us never forget that no barrier could permanently stand between people standing as one. That being united for a singular purpose could tear down any wall. That any wall would give way to the people's inherent right to be free. It was a lesson that resonated around the world 30 years ago, and it is a lesson we remember now.

On the 30th year of the Fall of the Berlin Wall, we echo the call: Never forget. Never Again.
